As I have grown and developed during the more than thirty five years I have practiced psychiatry, I feel the need to define myself and my interests more specifically.
External forces are working to limit the Psychiatrists' role to medication prescriber. I certainly do some of this as the goal of symptom alleviation is an important one. What appeals most to me, however, is to work with individuals to achieve a more fundamental shift: growth at a deeper level.
Consequently, I have consolidated medication and talk therapy "under one roof." This provides efficiency and power difficult to achieve with split therapy.
For the most part, I continue to practice mainstream psychiatry. Over the last fifteen years, however, I have worked to introduce techniques that complement traditional Western medicine. This reflects my personal interest in and commitment to Yoga as an alternative path leading to change, healing, and growth.
My special interests are in the restoration of balance and health, as well as the creation of prosperity. This is obviously not everyone's "cup of tea," nor is it appropriate for everyone. It provides an alternative to those of like mind - those who are, for any one of a number of reasons, ready to try something that enhances the traditional.
Every person has a unique and special story. I look forward to hearing from you.
